UNC Zero Waste Event: Beauty Through Toxicity by Denise Hughes

April 21 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

ZeroWasteEvent

As part of the Three Zeros Initiative’s Zero Waste to Landfill goal, we are inviting Denise Hughes, a local artist, to campus. Denise creates large murals by upcycling plastic bottle caps and other discarded plastic. An exhibit of her work will be hung in the Student Union Art Gallery from March 15th to April 26th. This event is for the gallery closing of the exhibit, which will be held April 21 in the Union Art Gallery, complete with local, sustainable refreshments and a chance to hear the artist speak about her work. Staff from the Sustainability Office and the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling will also be there to inform students on UNC’s efforts to reduce waste on campus and ways that members of campus can get involved. This event is also cosponsored by the Environmental Affairs Committee of Student Government.

Visit Denise Hughes’ web site to learn more about her work and her art.

Visit the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling’s Program Results page to see what UNC is already doing to reduce campus waste.
