Fall scenes of the Old Well at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Many organizations recognize UNC as one of the leading “green” schools in the country. Our past accomplishments and future plans to further integrate sustainability into our academics and campus environment depend on the support and participation of the entire campus community. The Sustainability Advisory Committee, which broadly represents all campus constituencies, leads campus-wide efforts and recommends long-term sustainability goals.

It is the role of the Sustainability Office to work with campus partners to develop and document sustainable policies, practices and curricula. The University is a gold-level, charter participant in the AASHE STARS program, which helps the University measure progress toward a wide range of sustainability goals.
