 Transportation Minimize

BusSign2.jpgTransportation demand management, or creating and developing effective solutions to address capacity constraints, is addressed within the Campus Master Plan. Solutions used at UNC include parking management, promoting non-vehicular transportation options, and reducing single-occupancy vehicles. UNC has been designated a Best Workplace for Commuters by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency since 2003 thanks to our successful transportation demand management initiatives. For more information on these initiatives, visit Transit Options.

The university is also increasing the number of alternative fueled vehicles in its fleet, including flex-fuel vehicles and hybrids. As a result of a student-led campaign, in 2005 the Point-2-Point campus shuttle buses began using biodiesel.
